Meet Alderman Milly Santiago

Milagros ‘Milly’ Santiago is the current Alderman of the 31st Ward of the City of Chicago.

Milly Santiago came to Chicago in 1976 and started milly_headshot.JPG working as a bilingual clerk for Chicago Public Schools in the Department of Bilingual Education. Santiago decided to join the U.S. Army Reserves, which would give her the opportunity to go to college. She completed her training in Fort McClellan, Alabama in 1979 and was assigned to a military base in Fort Sheridan, IL. After the birth of her first daughter, Milly decided to attend college full-time at Northeastern Illinois University where she attained a bachelor’s degree in Communications.
