Chicago Property Tax Rebate Program

The deadline to apply for a property tax rebate has been extended to Friday, December 30th. 

The following sites are available until the deadline.- 

Northwest (Copernicus) Senior Center (3160 N. Milwaukee Ave) Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm & Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm

Spanish Coalition for Housing (1922 N. Pulaski Rd) Monday-Thursday 9:00am-7:00pm & Friday-Saturday 9:00am-1:00pm

Austin-Irving Library (6100 W. Irving Park Rd) Monday & Wednesday12:00pm-8:00pmTuesday & Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm, Friday & Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm

*The Property Tax Rebate Program Checklist* 

Required Documentation:
-Current Photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, Consulate ID, Passport)
-2015 Income Tax Returns or Social Security Award Letter
-2015 2nd Installment Property Tax Bill

To receive a standard rebate, homeowners must meet the following eligibility requirements:
-Owner of the property in the City of Chicago
-Receipt of 2015 Homeowner's Exemption
-Payment of all property taxes
-Increase in 2015 City of Chicago Property Tax amount
-Household Adjusted Gross Income of under $75,000 in 2015

To receive the senior supplement, homeowners must meet the following eligibility requirements:
-Eligible for the standard grant in any amount
-At least 60 years of age by January 1, 2016
-Lived in the property since January 1, 1998
-Did not receive the Senior Freeze for tax year 2015
-Did not receive the homestead improvement exemption for tax year 2015
-Equalized Assessed Value of the property increased by at least 30%

To receive the enhanced grant, homeowners must meet the following eligibility requirements:
-Eligible for the standard grant in any amount 
-Documentation of any of the following extraordinary hardship factors
-Participation in IL Benefits Access Program (formerly known as the "circuit breaker")
-Participation IL supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP-formerly known as food stamps)
-Participation IL low-income home energy assistance program (LIHEAP)
-Recipient of an IL Unemployment Insurance award
-Recipient of a Social Security Disability award.
